I grew up in Michigan. It's beautiful up there in the summer. It's ridiculously cold in the winter. And all year long, it's pretty liberal! Therefore, I tend to lean to the left when it comes to my political views. Although, I don't consider myself Republican or Democrat. I'm not a registered member of either party. In fact, I can honestly say that I vote for the candidate, not the party.
